Provençal markets

Staying at Camping Liberté Verdon also means treating yourself to a sensory journey to the heart of Provence.

The Artignosc Market : This is the local gathering place par excellence. You'll find everything you need for your barbecues: sun-kissed vegetables, local olives and the famous Verdon goat's cheese.

The Aups Market: Just 15 minutes away, Aups is an institution. Known worldwide for its truffles in winter, the market is an explosion of colour in summer. It's the perfect place to buy Provençal fabrics, olive wood crafts or lavender honey.

The Régusse Market: A lively market in the shade of plane trees. After shopping, take the opportunity to visit the village's windmills. The lively café terraces guarantee a holiday atmosphere.

The incredible Garde-Canal trail

Less than 10 minutes from the campsite, the village of Quinson is the starting point for one of the most beautiful hikes in the region: the canal guard trail. This walk suspended above the water is a must-do during your stay.

The route: This trail runs alongside the old Verdon canal, built under Napoleon III. The route is spectacular but remains accessible (little elevation gain).

You will walk on old stone walls, cross footbridges and even pass under small tunnels carved into the rock.

Key strengths:

  • The view: Panoramic views overlooking the turquoise waters of the Basses Gorges.
  • The Sainte-Maxime cave: A short climb takes you to a chapel nestled in a cave, offering breathtaking views.
  • The coolness: Much of the path is sheltered by the cliff and forest.
  • Practical information: Allow about 3 hours for the complete loop. Remember to bring water (lots of water!) and your cameras. Back in Quinson, don't miss a visit to the Museum of Prehistory, one of the largest in Europe, perfect for a cultural outing with the children.

Artignosc Lake, a little corner of paradise

Why do we love it so much? Unlike the more exposed beaches of Lake Sainte-Croix, the shores of Lake Artignosc are generously shaded. It's the perfect place to set up your folding chair and open a good book.

  • By canoe or electric boat: This is where the Basses Gorges begin. The current is almost non-existent, making for a very peaceful trip. You glide along emerald waters between wild cliffs, surrounded by water lilies and herons.
  • An impromptu picnic: Enjoy the cool shade of the trees and share a simple moment together after a swim.
  • Return to the campsite: No need to travel miles. In the blink of an eye, you'll be back at your pitch in time for aperitif hour.
