Just a stone’s throw from Camping Liberté Verdon, the ancient bread oven of Artignosc-sur-Verdon is a true gem of local heritage. Once the heart of village life, it was used to bake bread for the entire neighborhood, bringing residents and their stories together around the fire.

Today, it remains a living symbol of Provençal tradition. The warmth of the oven, the scent of woodsmoke, and the patient, age-old gestures offer a genuine return to one's roots.

At Les Chevaux du Verdon – Grignolet Horse Riding Center, it’s not just about riding a horse: it’s about experiencing the Verdon. In front of Lake Artignosc and near the gorges, a herd of around 70 horses roams freely across wide-open spaces, ready to take you on a journey through nature like never before.

Here, rides and horse treks are suited to all levels — from first-timers to full-day adventures in the gorges. Every moment begins with a real connection with your horse, before setting off at a walk, trot, or, for the more confident, a gallop through wild, untouched landscapes.

Less than 10 minutes from the campsite, the village of Quinson is the starting point for one of the most beautiful hikes in the region: the canal guard trail. This walk suspended above the water is a must-do during your stay.

The route: This trail runs alongside the old Verdon canal, built under Napoleon III. The route is spectacular but remains accessible (little elevation gain).

Why do we love it so much? Unlike the more exposed beaches of Lake Sainte-Croix, the shores of Lake Artignosc are generously shaded. It's the perfect place to set up your folding chair and open a good book.
